How to start a Yamaha Outboard Motor? Or what are the operating procedures for a yamaha outboard engine? This is probably the question most beginners have when they first get their hands on an outboard motor. Today, we'll use the two-stroke boat engine E75B as an example to explain the starting steps and precautions for Yamaha outboard motor engines.

We all know that outboard motors are divided into manual start and electric start; today, we'll discuss both. Whether it's manual or electric start, the engine needs to be broken in for the first operation. Also, for two-stroke outboard motors, it's crucial to ensure that the gasoline and engine oil are thoroughly mixed. Otherwise, the engine will be damaged. We need to perform some checks before starting the engine. So what should we check?
Starting the engine requires checking:
• Fuel level
• Removing the top cover
• Fuel system
• Controller
• Engine stop cable (tether)
• Engine oil
• Engine
• Reinstalling the top cover
After checking, you can add fuel and engine oil. We begin by adding fuel to the portable fuel tank. The gasoline to engine oil mixing ratio is 50:1. Next, we'll operate the engine and start it.
Let's start with the manual starter (steering control) outboard motor starting procedure:

• Place the gear lever in neutral.
• Secure the engine stop cable to a secure location such as clothing, arm, or leg. Then attach the cable clamp at the other end of the cable to the engine stop switch.
• Place the throttle lever in the "start" position.
• Pull out the choke button and turn it all the way down. After starting the engine, adjust/return the knob to the starting position.
• Slowly pull the manual starter lever until you feel resistance. Then use force to pull the crankshaft directly out to start the engine. Repeat this operation if necessary.
• After starting the engine, slowly return the manual starter lever to the initial position and release it.
• Slowly return the throttle lever to the fully closed position.
The entire starting process is now complete.
Next, let's discuss the starting steps for an electric starter boat engine:

• Place the gear lever in neutral.
• Secure the engine stop cable to a secure location such as clothing, arm, or leg. Then attach the cable clip at the other end of the cable to the engine stop switch.
• Place the throttle lever in the "start" position. Once the engine starts, return the throttle to the fully closed position.
• Fully pull out the choke button. After the engine starts, press and hold the choke button inward to return it to its initial position.
• Turn the main switch to the "start" position and hold it for up to 5 seconds.
• After the engine starts, immediately release the main switch, returning it to the "on" position.
• Slowly return the throttle lever to the fully closed position to prevent the engine from suddenly stopping.
The entire starting process is now complete.
Finally, let's discuss the starting steps for a remote-controlled electric starter boat motor:

• Place the remote control stick in the neutral position.
• Secure the engine stop cable to a secure location such as clothing, arm, or leg. Then attach the clamp at the other end of the cable to the engine stop switch.
• Turn the main switch to "on".
• Use the neutral throttle or neutral accelerator to slightly open the throttle without shifting gears. You may need to adjust the throttle opening slightly depending on the engine temperature. After the engine starts, return the throttle to its initial position.
• Press the main switch in and hold it in place, then operate the remote-controlled choke system. Once released, the remote-controlled choke switch will automatically return to its normal position. Therefore, the main switch needs to be kept in the pressed-in position.
• Turn the main switch to "start" and hold it for up to 5 seconds.
• After the engine starts, immediately release the main switch, returning it to "on".
The entire starting process is now complete.
